Mapping a Shared Drive

Follow these simple stems to map the network share drive.

Steps

Windows: Shared drive in Windows

  • Open File Explorer
    • Press Win+E on your keyboard, or...
    • Click on File Explorer icon on your taskbar, or...
    • Double click This PC on the desktop
    • Windows 11
    • Windows 10 
  • Choose "Map Network Drive"
    • Windows 11: 
      • Click on the ellipses (3 dots), and select "Map Network Drive".
    • Windows 10: 
      • Click on Computer in the upper left corner, and select "Map Network Drive".
  • Enter the Network Share Path: In the Folder field, type in the share drive you are trying to access. Example: \\File1.maricopa.edu\ExampleShare$. Ensure "Reconnect at sign-in" is checked, and click Finish.
  • Access the Drive: The mapped drive should now appear under This PC as a network location. 

 

macOS: Shared drive in macOS

  • Open Finder
  • At the top, select Go and open Connect to Server 
    • In the Connect to Server window, type in the share address.
      • Use the format: SMB://file1.maricopa.edu/ExampleShare$
      • Remember to include the full name of the server 
      • Click Connect
      • A pop up will appear asking for credentials
        • Remember to add the Maricopa user domain: MCCCD-ORG\ 
        • Click Connect
