You can create a secure, random password for a site using the built-in LastPass password generator, then store it in the LastPass vault.
Generating passwords by using this method is a security best practice. You can use this method to create a password for a new account or to change your old password to a new and more secure one.

How to Generate a Password for a New Account

Log in to LastPass on your browser.

Open the LastPass Vault via your browser extension.

Sign in using your Single Sign-On (SSO) credentials.

Go to the website where you’re creating the account:

In the password field, you will see the LastPass logo.

Click the logo to see a suggested password and customization menu.

To use the suggested password, click it- LastPass will autofill the box.

To customize, click Customize to set your own password options.

Customize Your Password

Choose your preferred settings:
-
Length (recommended: 16+ characters).

Select character types:
-
Uppercase letters
-
Lowercase letters
-
Numbers
-
Symbols (optional, but recommended)

Generate the Password

As you adjust the settings, a new password will appear.

If you want a different one, click the regenerate cycle icon until you are happy with it.

Save the Password

LastPass will automatically store it in your vault for future use.

Confirm It is Saved

Check that the password is saved under the correct site entry in your vault.

Test by logging out and logging back in using the generated password.
Generate a New Password for an Existing Account

Log in to LastPass on your browser.

Open the LastPass Vault from your browser.

Sign in using your Single Sign-On (SSO)

Open the Password Generator
-
Click on the LastPass browser extension icon.

In the menu, select Generator at the bottom.

Customize the Password

You will see a password along with customization options. Set your preferences:

Length (recommended: 16+ characters).

Character types:

Uppercase letters
-
Lowercase letters
-
Numbers
-
Symbols (optional, but recommended)

Copy and Use the Password
-
When you are satisfied, click the icon to copy the password.

Paste it into the password field where you are updating credentials.
