LastPass – Installing and Signing into the Browser Extension

Summery:

LastPass is a secure password manager that stores all your user names and passwords in a vault. When you log into a website, LastPass will enter your user name and password for you. 

Solution:

Adding LastPass Extension to Chrome Browser:

  1. Open Chrome > click more (3 dots on the upper right-hand corner) > Setting > Extensions > Search LastPass > add
  2. Or click here for link to the LastPass extension

  1. You can pin the LastPass Extension to Chrome for easy access. Click on the Extension icon > then click on the pin

  1. Next, disable password autofill in Chrome by clicking on the More (3 dots) > password and autofill > google password manager > settings > disable “Offer to save password and passkeys”, “Sign in automatically”, and “Use Window Hello when filling password”

  1. To sign in to your LastPass account. Click on the LastPass Extension icon > sign in with your credentials. Now that you have signed in, LastPass will automatically log you in to any accounts that has been added to your vault after you initiate the login process.

Importing saved password from browser

  1. You can also Import all password saved in Chrome to CSV file and upload them in LastPass. In Chrome, click on More (3 dots) > Passwords and auto fill > Google Password Manager > Settings > “Select file” and just choose a location to save the CSV file and later import into LastPass

  1. To import passwords from any browser into LastPass, login to your Vault > Advance Options > Import

  1. Select the browser (example: Chrome), follow the onscreen steps or locate your previously saved CSV file, drag and drop into “Upload the exported file to LastPass” box

  1. Click on Password whiles in your vault to verify if all your passwords were imported
