Windows: Shared printers on Windows devices

  • Press the Windows key + 'R' to bring up the Run command interface.
    • Alternatively, you can right-click the Windows Menu and select Run
  • Type \\printsrv2 in the search bar and press OK.Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  • The prinsrv2 box will pop up displaying all of district office printers. Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)

  • Locate the printer you are looking for and double click on the printer you would like and it should connect. Sometimes you will be prompted to install the driver - be sure to select install to continue.
  • This will install the required printer driver on your computer. Close the window.
  • Once again click on the Windows Start button, and start typing Printers to search for Printers & Scanners
  • Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)After verifying the printer was installed right-click on the printer and select Set as Default if needed.
  • Close window.
  • When opening a browser or application be sure to change to the printer to be used.

Apple: Shared printers on Apple OS X devices

  • Go to The Apple Icon in the top left corner
    • System Preferences
  • Click on “Printers and Scanners”
  • Click the “+” and select “IP”
  • In the “address field” type the following
    • Printsrv2.maricopa.edu
  • Make sure the Protocol is set to “Line Printer Daemon - LPD”
  • In the “Queue” field type the name of the printer (ie: printer0001)
    • Change the name in the “Name” field to reflect the printer name (ie: printer0001)
    • Leave the “Location” field blank
  • In the “Use” drop down, select “Select Software” and find the printer name
    • If the printer model doesn’t populate you may have to go to the manufacturer’s website and download the driver.
    • If the manufacturer's website does not have a Apple drivers, try using Generic Post Script (typically for color printers) or Generic PCL (typically for B/W printers), that is builtin to Mac OS.
