Best Practices and Tips:

For troubleshooting badge access here are some basic recommended steps:

Check Badge Placement: Ensure the badge is placed correctly over the reader, making sure it is aligned and not too far away.

Badge Damage: Inspect the badge for physical damage that may interfere with its functionality. If the card is more than 5 years old or damaged, it may need replacement.

Try Another Reader: Attempt to use the badge on a different reader to determine if the issue is with the badge or the reader. If the card doesn't work with other previously used readers, it is likely damaged and needs replacement. 

Check Access Rights: Have you been able to access this area before? If this is the first time, you may not have access rights yet. Your supervisor will need to request access to new areas. 

Check for System Outages: Ensure there are no system outages or maintenance ongoing that may affect badge access. This is not common but if the system is down or undergoing maintenance, OIT will notify you via a service bulletin email.
