Overview
Cisco Jabber is the softphone application used at the District Office to place and receive calls directly from your computer. Jabber is pre-installed on all District Office-issued machines, so most users only need to sign in. If Jabber needs to be reinstalled, it is available in the Windows Software Center or MacOS Self Service.
Signing In to Cisco Jabber
Step 1: Open Cisco Jabber
- In macOS,Open Applications and select Cisco Jabber.
Step 2: Enter Your Username
The first sign-in window will prompt for your MCCCD username.
- Enter your login in this format: MEID@maricopa.edu
- Click Continue.

Some users may see a certificate verification pop-up. If it does appear, click Accept.
Step 3: Enter Your MEID and Password
A second login window will appear.
- Username: MEID (do NOT include @maricopa.edu)
- Password: Your MEID password
- Click Log In.

Step 4: Accept Certificate (If Prompted)
Some users may see a certificate verification pop-up. If it appears:
Step 5: Approve Webex/Google Authentication
After the initial login, Jabber will launch a browser window to authenticate using Webex with your Google/MCCCD account. This step is required only the first time you sign in on a device.
- Select your Maricopa work account (e.g., MEID@domail.maricopa.edu or MEID@maricopa.edu).
- Click Continue / Allow when asked for access permission.
- Complete any prompted Maricopa login or MFA verification.

Step 6: Enter the One-Time Code
After allowing access, the browser will show a 4-digit one-time code. Jabber will simultaneously display a small window asking for this code.

- Enter the 4-digit code from the browser into the Jabber pop-up.
- Click Verify.

Once the code is verified, Jabber will finish signing in and open normally. This Webex/Google step typically only needs to be completed once per device.
macOS: Privacy Permissions (Managed by Jamf Pro)
Cisco Jabber requires Screen & System Audio Recording permission on macOS to function correctly. On District Office-issued Macs, this permission is managed through Jamf Pro. Follow the steps below based on your situation.
If the Cisco Jabber Configuration Profile is installed
If your Mac has the Jabber PPPC profile deployed via Jamf Pro, you will need to manually enable the Screen Recording toggle the first time. Follow these steps:
- Go to Apple menu → System Settings → Privacy & Security → Screen & System Audio Recording.
- Locate Cisco Jabber in the list. The toggle will appear disabled — toggle it to the right to enable it.
- When prompted, choose Quit & Reopen to restart Cisco Jabber immediately. Do not select “Restart Later” as Jabber must relaunch for the change to take effect.

Why this matters: Enabling this toggle makes the approved Screen & System Audio Recording settings available to Cisco Jabber, allowing it to function correctly for calls and collaboration.
After Jabber relaunches, return to Screen & System Audio Recording to confirm the toggle is enabled and the following note appears next to Cisco Jabber:
“This setting has been configured by a profile.” This confirms the Jamf Pro profile is active and the permission is in place.

If Cisco Jabber Prompts for Screen Recording Permission
If your Mac does not have the Jabber configuration profile installed, or if Jabber displays a Screen Recording permission prompt on first launch:
- When the Screen Recording permission dialog appears, click Open System Settings.
- In Privacy & Security → Screen & System Audio Recording, locate Cisco Jabber and toggle it on.
- When prompted, choose Quit & Reopen to restart Cisco Jabber.
Note: If you see the Screen Recording prompt, approve it and enable the Cisco Jabber toggle. Denying the prompt will prevent Jabber from functioning correctly.

Verifying Your Device Is Managed
To confirm your Mac is enrolled and managed by Jamf Pro, navigate to:
- Apple menu → System Settings → General → Device Management.
Your Mac should be listed as supervised and managed by MARICOPA COMM COLLEGE DIST. The profile list should include a Jabber PPPC entry (e.g., “2020 – DO| Jabber PPPC”). If your device is not listed as managed, or the Jabber PPPC profile is missing, contact Customer Care.
