All of the instructor stations and most of the conference rooms at Phoenix College contain Mersive Solstice Pods, which allow users to send wireless video and audio to the room's displays.
There are two ways to connect to the Solstice Pod:
Connect using the Mersive Solstice mobile app
Connect using a web browser
The device you want to share must be connected to any wifi or wired connection managed by Maricopa (eduroam, maricopa, etc.).
Install the app for your device/operating system: https://www.mersive.com/download/
|
On the touch panel, choose Wireless Connection. The image on the monitor and the projection will change to the Solstice screen.
Open the app, type in the 4-digit code that's on the Solstice screen, and press enter. The code will automatically locate the Solstice for that room and connect your device to it.
On the app, tap Mirror Screen.
Some devices will create a pop-up and ask permission to cast video. In the pop-up, tap Start Recording. The device will share its video with the Solstice. Audio is muted by default but can be enabled (see below). Although the pop-up may mention recording, the Solstice system itself does not have any recording capabilities built in.
You can now switch to a different app. Whatever app you see on your device will show on the room display. You can also use the touch panel to switch back and forth among the Solstice, the PC, and other video devices, without losing your connection to the Solstice Pod.
If you'd also like to share audio from your device, click the speaker/mute button on the app to disable mute. Different devices handle the audio in different ways. In many cases, shared audio will come out of both the device and the room speakers. You can usually turn the volume all the way down on your device without affecting the volume coming out of the room speakers.
Adjust the volume in the room using the volume controls on the touch panel.
To stop sharing your device, go back to the Mersive Solstice app and tap Stop Sharing All. It will stop sharing both video and audio. The device is still connected to the Solstice Pod, however.
Click Disconnect to completely disconnect your device from the Solstice Pod.

On the touch panel, choose Wireless Connection. The image on the monitor and the projection will change to the Solstice screen.
Open a web browser on your device. If you intend to share audio (in addition to video), Google Chrome works best. In the URL field of the web browser, type the I.P. address listed on the right side of Solstice screen and press Enter.
Choose Share My Screen.
Enter the 4-digit code that's on the Solstice screen, enter a name, and tap Launch.
Your device will connect and present you with options.
In Chrome:
- Chrome Tab – Shares a single Chrome tab.
- Window – Shares the window for a specific app.
- Entire Screen – Shares everything that you see on your device screen. Choose this option if you'd like to share audio from one tab/app and video from a different tab/app.
If you are using Google Chrome you will also have the option to share audio from a tab or from the entire screen by activating the slider from the sharing selection screen.
In Firefox:
From the drop-down, choose an app window or Entire Screen.
To stop sharing, click the Stop Sharing button. To completely disconnect your device from the Solstice Pod, close the browser tab that has the Solstice login screen.
