Mapping a Shared Drive

Follow these simple steps to map a network shared drive.

Steps

Windows: Shared drive in Windows

  • Open File Explorer:
    • Press Win + E on your keyboard, or…
    • Click on the File Explorer icon on your taskbar, or…
    • Double-click This PC on the desktop.
  • Windows 11:

  • Choose Map Network Drive:

    Click on the ellipses (three dots), and select Map Network Drive.

  • Windows 10:
    Click on Computer in the upper left corner, and select Map Network Drive.

  • Enter the network share path:
    In the Folder field, type in the share drive you are trying to access.
    Example: \\File1.maricopa.edu\ExampleShare$
    Ensure Reconnect at sign-in is checked, and click Finish.

  • Access the drive:
    The mapped drive should now appear under This PC as a network location.

macOS: Shared drive in macOS

  • Open Finder.
  • At the top, select Go and open Connect to Server.

    • In the Connect to Server window, type in the share address:
      • Use the format: smb://file1.maricopa.edu/ExampleShare$
    • Remember to include the full name of the server.

      • Click Connect.
      • A pop-up will appear asking for credentials:
      • Remember to add the Maricopa user domain: MCCCD-ORG\

        • Click Connect.
