Windows: Shared printers on Windows devices
- Press the Windows key + R to bring up the Run command interface.
- Alternatively, you can right-click the Windows Menu and select Run.
- Type \\printsrv2 in the text bar and press OK.

- The printsrv2 window will pop up displaying all District Office printers.

- Locate the printer you are looking for and double-click it to install.
- Sometimes you will be prompted to install the driver – be sure to select Install to continue.
- This will install the required printer driver on your computer. Close the window when it finishes.
- Click on the Windows Start button, and start typing Printers to search for Printers & Scanners.
Verify the printer was installed.
- Close the window.
- When opening a browser or application, be sure to change to the printer you want to use.
- Example: In Google Chrome, new printers may not be listed in the initial drop-down. You may have to select See more to get a full list of installed printers.
Apple: Shared printers on Apple OS X devices
- Go to the Apple icon in the top left corner.
- Select System Preferences.
- Click on Printers & Scanners.
- Click the + button and select the IP tab.
- In the Address field, type:
- Make sure the Protocol is set to Line Printer Daemon – LPD.
- In the Queue field, type the name of the printer (e.g., printer0001).
- Change the name in the Name field to reflect the printer name (e.g., printer0001).
- Leave the Location field blank.
- In the Use drop-down, select Select Software and find the printer model.
- If the printer model doesn’t populate, you may need to go to the manufacturer’s website and download the driver.
- If the manufacturer’s website does not have Apple drivers, try using Generic PostScript (typically for color printers) or Generic PCL (typically for B/W printers), which are built into macOS.
